Elevate in October: New certificates report, and CSV export updates

Elevate in October: New certificates report, and CSV export updates

Here are some of the features, improvements, and bug fixes we shipped in October.

New certificates report

The certificates report is useful for determining the validity of existing certificates, and highlighting those nearing their expiry dates so that that they can be renewed in good time to remain compliant. However, it is equally useful to easily identify certificates which are missing, either due to changing circumstances on particular properties, e.g the fitting of gas appliances, or which have simply been missed and present serious compliance issues.

The Missing Certificates report has been extended with a new CSV export which can be filtered to show missing certificates, and also allows filtering and sorting in Excel to consider multiple certificates simultaneously. For example, an agent may wish to see properties which have neither gas nor oil certificates, or those properties which have gas appliance certificates but no carbon monoxide alarm certificates.

New HMO certificate type

A home is classed as a HMO, or House in Multiple Occupancy, if both of the following apply:

  • at least 3 tenants live there, forming more than 1 household
  • you share toilet, bathroom or kitchen facilities with other tenants

A home is classed as a large HMO if both of the following apply:

  • at least 5 tenants live there, forming more than 1 household
  • you share toilet, bathroom or kitchen facilities with other tenants

A household is either a single person or members of the same family who live together. A family includes people who are:

  • married or living together – including people in same-sex relationships
  • relatives or half-relatives, for example grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings
  • step-parents and step-children

Large HMOs require a licence from the local council. Read more on the Shelter website.

A new certificate type has been added to the system to allow recording of HMO licences or certificates, allowing these to be full reported upon.
